| Hey Everyone! This is fun! I´ll be able to keep up with the whole fam. Yay! Anyway, I´ve been able to settle into a sort of routing here, which is always good. School is going well. It´s a little crazy to have your whole grade resting on two tests, but my classmates are all amazing and help me out a ton. The actual classes themselves have proving to be a mix of fun, boring, easy, and hard. I´m learning a lot though, and I suppose that is sort of the point of this little trip. :) Let´s see, things with my family here are working out. We defiantly have different personalities but we´re settling into a schedule. I´ve gotten really close with a fun group of gringas, as well as the college group at church. Us gringas have been able to do some travelling, and that has been amazing. A few weekends ago CIEE took all of us to La Serena for the weekend. It´s 6ish hours north of here and known for it´s beaches. We had a free day to spend how we wanted, so of course, it was at the beach. However, the rest of the weekend was all educational. We went to La Universidad de La Serena to learn from a prof. there about Gabriella Mistral, then we went to Vicuña to see her house and one of her museums. The day ended at an observatory which was beautiful! We had a full moon that night, it was all super hermosa! The 18th is our Independence Day here, and then the 19th was Armed Forces Day, so classes were cancelled Monday and Tuesday. I went with my friend, Melinda, and her host family to Olmué, a small town about an hour north of here. It was great to be able to experience a traditional family fiestas patrias. We came home in time to experience the ramada here in Viña. It was pretty much a big carnival with lots of churipan. Well, I have my first spoken test next week, so I need to go study. However, I will leave you with come contact info and links to pictures. :) For regular mail: Paula Scott Las Rosas 425 Las Colinas Viña del Mar, Chile For Packages! :) : Paula Scott c/o CIEE 1 Oriente #7 Viña del Mar, Chile And for Pictures: http://gvsu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2059044&id=22418812&l=60936 http://gvsu.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2061865&id=22418812&l=88612 |
