Hello all~

It is your curly haired family member who goes by the name of Katie Polavin. I am sitting here at my desk in Colorado and looking out at the mountains and wishing I could be in them right now.

For those of you who don't know I moved out to CO last year to work at a group home for troubled adolescents. I was there from Sept 05 to sept 06, we worked with kids who were just getting out of jail or had been in the foster care system and this was there last step before they aged out of the system and were on their own. We taught them how to live, get a job, ride the bus, pay your taxes, have somewhat normal relationships :0) But mostly what a family looked like of people who sincerely loved one another. It was by far the most challenging year of my life and I have some doozy stories if any of you want to hear them sometime. I can update those another post.

Since leaving dale house I took a job with the el paso county sheriff county as a victim advocate. This last week I got to do ride along with deputies where we got to arrest someone and book him in jail (that was fun), I was in the prison seeing their whole security system and walking around by myself, that was a little scary. When I was getting a tour of the jail I got called a few interesting things, but I am used to that ;0) I sat with the 911 dispatchers and got to listen in all calls. All in all a very interesting week.

This week I have been playing catch up because the woman before me has not done anything for the whole month of august of sept. So you can only imagine that this week has been a little stressful. But I love the job so far. What I normally will do is go to call outs if a deputy get a bad one and just be with the victim and be whatever they need me to be. Hooking them up with resources within the community and just taking care of people. I enjoy it so far. We shall see. well off to work.....
