Velderman Family Update

Alright....so I feel like lots has been happening since I've updated everyone last. This may be a little lengthy but let's face it, everyone secretly LOVES the long ones right?!? =) I guess I'll start back a little while and work my way to today. The picture of the kids with Kurt and I was at Gavin's birthday party. I ended up coming a day earlier than I expected (thanks to my fabulous husband that convinced me I needed the break!) so I got to be there for the V.V. side of the party. I stayed through Sat. for Gavin's sleepover with his 5 friends. It was really fun to be there for Gavin, I feel privledged to have the relationship I do with my precious nephew. I was supposed to stay overnight Sat. and come home Sun. but as some of you may remember (alright you girls in the warm parts of the country - quit laughing!!) they predicted a pretty nasty ice/sleet/snow storm to hit Sat. night so I thought I better head home before it hit. I was really sad, and that was an understatement, to leave so suddenly but had to be home by Sun because Dan was headed out of town Mon. morning for work. Sigh.....I still feel bad about leaving, partially because I looked forward to the scavenger hunt/pinyata (sp?)/dessert part of the party, but it was such fun being at my sisters house and spending time with her. We talk lots on the phone but that's just not the same as actually spending time together. I still struggle with being away from my family since moving up here sometimes. It's just treasured time, but another life lesson God is teaching me. Just to rest in Him and be content where he's placed me. Gotta love those life lessons right?!? However, it didn't help that Bren was crying as I drove off (sigh again...) - I kept telling myself it was the pregnancy hormones but honestly we were just sad to cut the visit short. It was a really hard trip home, I don't know how many times I felt like turning around but knew I couldn't. ANYHOW.....I was glad that I came a day early as I may not have come otherwise if I would've knew about the storm so for that, I'm grateful. We did games, presents, sleds behind the quad....all in all I think Gav was a happy boy for his THIRD b-day party in a row!!!!
Onto the next picture., Daddy had taken Makayla outside while mommy rested and when they told me to come outside they had made a snow fort around a tree in the front yard. Leave it to daddy to make special memories with his baby girl....they truely have a special bond. We've had lots of fun with the fort since he made it, she likes to hide and then have us come find her. =)
Makayla and I have been busy painting, painting and painting some more. Finally the task is finished and looks adorable! Of course it was my big idea (somehow Dan's usually not on board with my new projects!!) to get started while he was out of town for 3 days. I got Makayla all phyched out about helping paint, so we went to Home Depot and picked it up. While the guy was mixing it Makayla kept saying "That's FOR ME!!"....and so on it went with every painting item I picked up!!! =) The next morning we were downstairs by 8 a.m. painting because as soon as she opened her peepers she remembered what we were going to do and got right up! With painting clothes donned we tackled the job...and let me just say I'm impressed with how well and how long she hung in there with me. And surprisingly enough she was a really big help! She loves it and is excited to move downstairs as I've said before, the basement needs to get finished first so it'll probably be a few months yet. I've got everything I need to put it together so once I get the go ahead I'll be right on it - - I love seeing the finished product! =) The picture was her on her toy phone pretending to chat to daddy while painting. Needless to say, I'd just gotten off the phone with Brenda so she thought she imitate mommy! =)
I went to the doctor for the first time yesterday and found out I'm 11 weeks along (I thought I was 10 weeks) and my official due date is Sept. 26. I go again next week for an ultrasound to get the most accurate due date but I doubt it will change much. It's kinda hard to believe I'm almost 3 months along already...seems like I just found out I was pregnant yesterday! And the "yuckies" have stayed away for about a week now so I'm assuming they're gone for good. Very grateful for that although I'm so excited about this little treasure I'd go through just about anything to have it here and be healthy! =)
The basement has kinda been at a stand still.....the next step is drywall but Dan hasn't gotten to that part yet. Soon I think although I don't say much about it these days.....he got a little testy when he thought I was getting pushy about getting it finished so I backed off. Smart girl huh? It's just hard cuzz I feel like it's getting close and it'll be SO nice to have the space down here all done! All in good time......I'm grateful that Dan is as handy as he is and is saving all that money by doing it himself. He's awesome!
Alright well I got superballs flying around behind me and Dan's on the phone so I'm gonna get going. We're headed back this weekend for another fast 'n furious trip for Mom's/Jen's birthday party....I think I may be spending a few extra days after Dan goes back because he's headed out of town for a few days and we get a little lonely after awhile by ourselves. =)
A prayer request if ya think of it....we're still in search of a home church and it really stinks to be in limbo with that. The church we thought would be the one we're finding out has some core beliefs that completely contradict ours.....and probably not something we'd be able to overlook and feel comfortable about. But it would be nice to feel settled somewhere and sooner better than later would be fantastic! Love you all - so thankful for the fabulous family we're so blessed to be a part of! Keep on blogging.....

You are right Kim, I do love the long posts :) So good to hear about you little family and I always enjoy your writing style. It lets us see right into your sweet heart! Family is a treasure and I'm so glad to be a part of it.
Love you and I can't believe how much your darlin girl looks like you did at her age! It's like a blast from the past. Sounds like you have a good grasp on the mommmy thing and that is so good to see. She is blessed to have you and Dan for parents and to be a part of the extended family that she is. What a joy and a treasure to be having another child to join your happy group.

Spring is coming! Grandpa told me yesterday that they have already seen a robin by their house! Yea!

Hey Kim,
You gotta stop breaking my heart with all your stories. What a blessing it is to have the relationship you do with Bren & her family. I am really excited for Tori & Elli to have that. There is just something special about family. And I am sure (although I wouldn't know) that having a sister is extra special! I have prayed for the both you & Bren many times. You are both amazing women and I am blessed to get to know you more and more as the years go on! See you Saturday!

Hello miss Kimberly! I love the pictures and hearing your heart. You are so blessed to be able to go home as much as you do, but it doesn't make it any easier does it? Your heart breaks a little more each time. Sometimes I think that by being so far away and not being able to come as much might be easier, but then I'm just kidding my self, because if they ever invent the teleport or something like it where i can just get in and be home, I'd probably be the first in line to buy it! Thank you for sharing. Makayla just keeps getting more a more beautiful. I can't wait to see what the next one will be like. :) Love you
