Hey everybody,
Thanks for your patience. I know there have been many of you to connect with me wondering when the next installment was coming. Here it is...and fraught with miracles and waiting...sometimes not-so-patiently.
Well, God made a way for me to stay in San Diego. I was very open to leaving, in fact my room had been packed for a month (out of a conviction that I was transitioning) and the car had been packed for days as of last Thursday. A few weeks ago, there was a woman I met through a mutual gathering place that mentioned she had a studio for rent. I asked if I could come see it. She said, "Absolutely." I loved it at first sight! The home is located in downtown San Diego...old three story Victorian with generations of history saturating the walls and furniture. Gloria, the 81 year old's name, is pure magic--a violinist, a lover of God, a vivacious and intelligent woman...who is currently kicking my butt in Scrabble. I love it. I love her. The garden on the grounds is San Fran style with potted tress and flowers everywhere. It's totally me for any of you who know how much I love old places and especially old Victorian homes and colorful gardens. I rent the studio in back of the house...and there is an old garage full of tools and old, good things in which I have my art studio.
This past Thursday, I almost didn't get the place... I was packed and ready to go. I still had not heard from the Holy Spirit about where to go or what to do, but had heard through many praying for me to "wait." I had no idea if that was a physiological waiting or a spiritual waiting. So, I prayed on Thursday morning around 3 am...and not without some serious tears... "Lord, if you want me to stay in SD, then I am asking that the studio with Gloria will be available. If you want me to leave, then please have the impossible happen and have someone within the past 48 hours rent it." Well, I called, and Gloria was beside herself. "Jennifer, I tried to call you over and over, but it was always busy. (She didn't dial my area code.) I didn't think it was possible, and I told you I'd wait for your decision until Friday, but 12 hours ago a woman came and looked at the studio and wanted it. So, I gave it to her. I'm so sorry." I told her it was ok...and trusted that I was supposed to leave. Then, at 10 pm that same night, she calls again and said, "Jennifer, you'll never believe this...but that woman called back just now and said she DIDN'T want the studio. Do you still want it?" I told her I would be there at 10 am the next morning.
The studio is the most beautiful home I've had in 3 years...in fact it is the only home I've had to myself in that amount of time. I have slept better here than I have in 3 years. Gloria prays, and I can feel that on the property. Jesus knew what I needed. She loves me, and amazingly she calls me her blessing from Jehovah... I've become her muscle, a property manager and her technical wizard (I just set up a home network for her property and tenants, got her internet, and bidding on laptops for her...she still is actively playing violin in the area...she's been self employed for 22 years.) We both are happy, creative and energetic. We have the BEST conversations. She's teaching me Spanish and Italian... She's Italian...married Spanish. Lovely teacher. Delightful person. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era... :)
The amazing thing in all of this is that I contacted over 30 different rental opportunities in the past two months...and NO one, NOT ONE called or emailed me back. Gloria was an open door...strangely, she has a million doors in her house... The house has three storeys and is about 5000 sq ft. She hates to have to walk everywhere to get to another room, so almost every room has 3 or 4 doors. There are even more spare doors in her garage...antique doors, shutters, saloon doors, anything you can imagine. It's crazy. She likes collecting them. Hahha! For all of you who had heard from the Holy Spirit about the coming of an open door. She is the lady of doors.
I've been self employed for the past few months. The contracts keep coming in from strange places, but I'm still looking for full time work. I will be designing a web site, writing, designing marketing collateral and managing some of Gloria's properties... We should be able to work out a barter for a while...but a stable income would be nice...so keep praying all of you, my beloved peoples...
Thanks so much for reading. I genuinely appreciate your love, your interest and care.
Come see me. There's a spare bedroom...and the beach is only a ten minute drive over the Coronado bridge...
Tons of love to all.

Jennifer,
So happy to hear about what God is up to in your life. Sounds wonderful! Be blessed and be happy! Thanks for the update. The picture is beautiful! love aunt sally :)
Jen;
Thanks so much for writing. It's so good to hear of "open doors"! Our Gods timing is ALWAYS perfect. Way to go for waiting for Him again. I'll be praying for a secure job.
Love you lots,
Aunt Rachel
Jae, How beautiful you are! I was wondering how you were doing. God is so good and great i should say. He never fails us even when were in wondering deserts or sitting on the steps to his throne waiting for Him to tell us what to do next.
James 5:7 "The testing of faith produces patience, which is the hallmark of the mature believer. Only under the pressure of trials can the believer test the true depth of his faith in God. The established heart will not waver, but will rejoice in the knowledge of the goodness of God."
Your home sounds remarkable I too believe I was born in the wrong era.") I love where your staying it sounds .......breathtaking. God will provide for you. For if this is where your going to plant the seeds of the Lord God almighty He will provide a way and in this you will know it only comes from God.
Be blessed and I will be praying you. For you are a weapoon made to bend, flow but stand firmly planted, that when the biggest storms come you will blow like the trees but not FALL. Jae he made you unique in every way. Like a tumble weed you go where the spirit of God leads you. TONS OF LOVE ALWAYS AUDREY
first of all, you're beautiful! secondly, what an awesome GOD we serve, to arrange all these little details just for you...i love it! i'm so glad things worked out...God is faithful!
Hey girl!
I can feel the Holy Spirit through your words... (Audrey... you too!) It is those times of waiting that make the movement of God so wonderful. You are such an amazing woman of God and it was inspiring to hear your story. What a blessing to have a surrogate (sp?) grandma. With my grandpa passing away, God has planted even deeper a yearning for time with grandparents and their generation. It is so sad how many from our generation push them aside so easily... often not on purpose just out of lack of focus. So Grandpa & Grandma, we love you! Be blessed!!
Sounds like everything is falling into place and the woman you're living sounds intriguing! Glad you feel like your at 'home' there! Thanks for sharing! Kim
Jen,
I LOVE your hair like that. Very beautiful.
I think I would really like Gloria too. She sounds fun and inspiring.what a blessing.
I would love to visit, so how bout youget to live there long enough for that to happen? Sound good?
I will keep praying for your income. You know if The Lord sent you enough clients you wouldn't need a "regular" job. Maybe that will be your stable income. just a thought.
Now a bit of input from the "older generation" (this is for you too Aud) about the feeling of being born in the wrong era. Guess what? I have always felt like that too!! Which of course I wasn't and neither are you. That doesn't take away the FEELING though. I guess I want to give a perspective from a little further down the road. I believe The Lord places people in every generation as "Pioneers" that really "see" things somewhat different.Don't you think that those that really WANTED to move out West , or those that dared to say out loud that slavery was wrong, were looked on as strange? the truth is that there is DIVINE purpose in all our lives.I wasted a lot of energy trying to fit in,actually fighting the Lords design for ME. If I could save you the struggle, I'd be happy. I had some major repenting to do once I saw what I had been doing. You won't "fit" but you ARE exactly who and what He made you to be.
Well enough of the "sermon"
Love you
Jae!
I am so happy to hear that God has opened a door for you. Or really a couple. As you were describing the house I was picturing myself sitting there playing scrabble with you and your interesting woman neighbor. I wish I could be there. I would love that house, sounds like my style too. It sounds like you have found peace. I pray your soul rests in that. Bless you.
Well, Aunt Barb, I love you tons. I appreciate what you said, and I think what I really meant was that most of the people I enjoy the most are people born in the early 1900s, and for whatever reason, I don't feel as lonely when I am with them...because there is a value system from which they function that allows for me to relax. I don't know when the last time was that you just sat down with one of your peers and found that you had absolutely nothing in common...and you genuinely longed to connect, but you couldn't. You couldn't talk about one thing because the foundations were so diametric. I mean, that's my life here. It's totally bizarre, but there are old people here that understand me immediately... If I say "honor" they know what "honor" is...and I find it restful.
You're right. I was born in the right time and in the right place and for the right things...but there is a longing in me for a time when people's words meant something, that a handshake was sufficient for a covenant that might last 50 years, or the slowness of life that would encourage people to sit down, have tea and play Scrabble. I don't know...maybe I am a Pioneer, but I feel more like a "returneer" come back, turn around! don't go that way... It isn't that I'm in this space of constant discovery, but in a constant space of reminding or confronting people...and yes, I am a prophet with the gift of mercy. :)
Enough of my sermon. I love you. Thanks for food for thought...and I will borrow from your struggle so that I don't have to walk where you have. Thanks for that...nice generational inheritance there.
Love to all. Thanks for all the comments. I appreciate them.
Jennifer
