Hey Everyone!!
I thought I'd drop you all a quick note :) Life in DC has been good, but I feel like I'm ready for a break so I decided to head out to Shenandoah Valley this weekend for a quiet, electronic free (this will be tough!!) Saturday. I'm leaving on Friday and will get back in time for some social activities (aka smores over a grill - I've got some "creative" friends :) We're trying to get around the no bonfires rule) Saturday night.
Next weekend, the 20's & 30's group (yes, I'm now officially in the "30's" category!) at my church will be going on a weekend retreat which I am really looking forward to. Some of us girls have got a few pranks planned for the guys :) (we gotta keep them on their toes ya know :) Its sure to be a memorable weekend :) I think we've got a good plan though - we're only gonna be there 1 night, so there's no opportunity for paybacks..... ;)
On the work front things have been going good, never a dull momment as usual! I was invited to attend a dinner at the Dutch Ambassadors residence last week with a couple of my co-workers - we had a great time. Those Dutch folks are a lively bunch!! The dinner was great, but I wasn't quite sure about everything we ate - I figured if I said a quick prayer before (and hoped I didn't gag!!), I'd be okay :) Everything was okay.
Speaking of prayer, I know this is kind of vague, but part of the reason I am heading out of town is so that I can spend some quiet time alone. I'm praying that I will get some clear direction from the Lord, especially concerning some things I'm involved with now and other possibilites in the future. I'd love your prayers :) I want to hear clearly from the Lord. I am constantly reminded of how important family is being out here - DC is full of "independent" people who "don't need" each other, which I KNOW is not true!! It can be tough sometimes, where encouragement (real encouragement w/no hidden motives) doesn't happen often. You all are important and I always look forward to checking this every day!! Everytime I tell people we have a family blog, they are always amazed and tell me how cool that is. One of my co-workers keeps asking if he can make a post....
Seen as I am talking about family, I'm having some VIP's come into town May 11th-May 13th = they are Travis, Tashina (can't wait to rub the belly :), Luke and Levi. We're gonna hang out and have some FFF (friendly family fellowship) that weekend. I'm not sure what we're gonna do yet, but I'm planning a little itinerary (scheduler extrordinare/excel spreadsheet here we come:) I can't wait to see them all!!
I do know one thing we will be doing, and that is going to one of my softball games. The 20/30 group I'm apart of put together a team so we've got a game on one of those days. Should be a good time :)
Well, I think that's all the news from the front here in DC. If you ever wanna visit, I MIGHT "know some people" who could hook you up with a Capitol tour and White House Tour....hint, hint, I'd love visitors :)
Much Luv to you all,
Leah

Dear Leah,
I'm so impressed that your FFF means something different than the TerBeek children's 'Forced Family Fellowship'. . . I'm sure they would rather change it to your definition!
Have a good weekend. . . I'm not sure where I see the relaxing part . .it sounds quite full but maybe it will just be different than your regular days. . .different is good.
Thanks for helping Rotarian Bill, it is always good to have a connection.
love aunt renee
only 15/16 more days! :)
mucho amor
tu hermano...
Hey Cuz - I love to read your updates...they always crack me up! I can see you saying what you write and it makes me laugh. I'll be praying for clear direction and a good time with the fam! Love you - Kim
P.S. Almost done with the second book...I had to hurry up and finish another one in between so I could mail it to Bren to read before the baby comes. So far so good....if it's okay I'm gonna pass it along to my mom?? Let me know if you need it back instead okay?
Hey Aunt Renee,
Thanks for the note :) Yeah, 1 day really isn't enough, but I'm too social to spend much longer completely by myself!! I think I'd drive myself nuts :) I'm glad I could help with Rotarin Bill. Let me know if you ever need anything else.
Luv Leah
Si, me hermano, only 15/16 dias mucho :) Mi amor y tu :)
Buenas Noches,
Leah
Hey Kim,
Glad I could make ya laugh - that's one of things I love to do - laugh, a good, hearty, laughing so hard you cry laugh!!! We have a picture of me doing that while we (the sisters) were in Honduras - I forget exactly what Tasha said but it was hysterical!! ANYWAY - take your time with the book, I'm in no rush. Thanks for the prayers.
Luv Leah
Hey Leah!
So great to hear from you! I am praying for you to hear clear direction from the Lord. I know how that is, needing some clarity. It is probably hard to be in a city without a lot of encouragement. So here you go... I have no doubt and have seen in you a long time ago. God has a very special plan for you. I remember being in church once and just feeling this anointing all over you. You are a very special woman and God is using and will continue to use you in a powerful way. Stay plugged in and following Him and you will continue to be blessed. I pray that all your dreams and desires are filled in His perfect timing! I love ya!
Thanks Jen!! Love you :)
