The Stickney's... update

Hello Gang,
Well, I am still dialated to a 2... bummer!! :( So this weekend will be me doing whatever I can to irritate my uterus! ehehehe... that sounds hilarious! The dr. is going to enduce labor early Monday morning. Please pray that all goes well, that the baby would be healthy and that I wouldn't have to have a c-section!

The pictures are:
Cory and Ava made a tent - this is after it collapsed
Graham and Ava - best buddies!
Ava (in her flapper dress) w/ Harley (our dog)
Lisa and our girlfriend Krista Broene (girl's night out!!)

Adam has a little fishing buddy! Everything looked great and is right on schedule for June 28. We aren't telling a name..its a surprise. Isabelle is excited..she thinks I'm having a kitten. Meow.

Ummm... Stickney's again...

Well Hello Again!
I'm going to be brief because - I want to go to bed! :) Cory and I went to the Dr today and he did the ultrasound and estimates that baby boy is about 7lbs 10oz... not bad..!!! There is no extreme amount of extra fluid in there.. so I'm just huge and measuring 3wks ahead because... that's just the way I carry. I am now dialiated to a 2 so.. we're slowly getting there.

The current plan is we'll do a reck next week Thurs. 19th and if things are favorable (dialiated to 4+ and cervix is cooperative) then he'd like to enduce me Friday - 20th. Otherwise, he won't let me go past the 23rd b/c the baby would be about 8.5 lbs at that point and I had plenty of difficulty getting an 8lb 3oz'er out.

Long story short.. we'll see our baby boy within the next two weeks... :)

Love you all... keep praying! - Tina

The Stickney's.... again... :)

Hello all!
Here's a cute picture of Cory, Ava, Graham and Grandpa Stelelma w/ Cory's 8pt this past year!
Well... now I am at the beginning of wk 38 (and still dialated to a 1) in the pregnancy and measuring 3wks ahead. So, next Thursday the Dr. is going to have an ultrasound done to make sure baby boy#2 isn't getting too big.... :)
Prayer request: Pray that I would be able to deliver this kiddo w/out being enduced. I was enduced by choice w/ Graham and we BARELY avoided a C-section and thought Graham could have needed recetation. So... to say the least neither Cory, the Dr. or I want to go that route if possible. However, there is concern that if this baby gets to 9 or 10lbs that I would have serious difficulty delivering due to my body structure. So, thankfully I'm not in control but God is! :) Thanks for your prayers!
Tina

The Stickneys...

Hello everyone!

We are doing well in our neck of the woods! My pregnancy is wrapping up and I am getting... well, huge! :)

Cory is busy being a wonderful hubby, an amazing Dad and of course buying, selling, and talking on the phone... :)

Ava is brilliant, quirky, fun and so much company for 3 yrs old! Graham is so adventurous, sweet and competative. So... not that I am not busy now - but I'll be busier very soon!

Here are some updated shots! Feel free to laugh! Kristina (Tina) Stickney

I needed to see something new on the blog, so here you go. A joke from http://www.cleanjokeoftheday.com

An elderly lady called 911 on her cell phone to report that her car had been broken into. She was hysterical as she explained her situation to the dispatcher: "They've stolen the stereo, the steering wheel, the brake pedal and even the accelerator!" she cried.

The dispatcher said, "Stay calm. An officer is on the way."

A few minutes later, the officer radioed back.

"Disregard, she got in the back-seat by mistake."

The Shrontz's

On Christmas day my dear Aunt Ruth informed me that I haven't posted in a while. She told me that she would be checking everyday to make sure I posted an update. So Aunt Ruth, this is for you, because you are the "favorite Auntie!"

Jason and I finished the first semester of the school year. Although Jason finished a little bit stronger than I did! I'm just ready to be done.

In the fall Jason started his Masters of Fine Arts degree, where he will concentrate on Fiction writing. While taking classes, reading a TON of books, and writing, he also taught a freshman level composition class four days a week and worked at the local co-op two days a week.

I also continued with school, all be it begrudgingly. In my "free time" I babysat 3 days a week for one of the English professors while she was in class and when she needed to write for her own projects. I also work at a local pizza place here, making and delivering pizzas, which is actually a great job despite all the boys I work with, and feel the need to mother!

After the semester finished we had a week or so in Marquette and then we headed down to Grand Rapids for a couple weeks with the fam. It was a great trip home despite all of the snow that hampered driving, and the 24 hour flu after Christmas.
I always love coming down to GR, but I love coming back up to the UP.

We took Jason's cousin Katie up north with us for New Years, and we also had another friend stay with us, so it was the Shrontz Inn for a week or so. But we had a TON of fun, and were sad to see them go. Now the house is empty and we are enjoying our last day of quiet before we start work again on Monday, and school in a week.

Below are some pictures of Jason and I, and some from a hike/walk we took on Friday around Presque Isle, which is a mile from our house.
The pictures of Jason and I were taken by his cousin Katie.

Collecting Pop Cans

Hello everyone!

This year, Tori, Elli, Mark & I are sponsoring a family as a part of Christmas. We are excited to bless them with many blessings and teach the girls the joy of giving. So we are sending out the word to all our friends and families that we are collecting pop cans as donations. So if any of you have some pop cans that you would like to give us, we will come pick them up and return them. We will be collecting them on Tuesday this week any time before 12:00, so email me or call me if you are interested. c# 616 502-1229 or jenvanderveen@urassociation.com. If you aren't home on Tuesday mornings, you can leave them somewhere and we will swing on by! Thanks all! As I have been doing this I am praying for all families. There are so many who are having a hard Christmas financially and that is not a fun stress to carry! So we pray blessings on them all. Thanks!

Love, Jen

Bethlehem, Snow & Christmas Cookies

Hello out there!!!! In case you didn't guess from the title it's CHRISTMAS TIME up here!!! I must say this might be my favorite time of the year. Not my favorite season, but my favorite time of year! If the snow would all melt on Dec 26 I'd be a happy little mama! =) Anyways I'll describe the pictures - hopefully they'll stay in the order as I see them now once I hit the "Post" button so here's hoping it doesn't get messed up! The first few are of our Christmas cookie decorating extravaganza last night! Makayla was so excited to get her hands on those that she could hardly stand it. (too bad my roast took FOREVER to cook last night so we got a later than 'supposed to' start!) I made Dutch Sand cookies because...well let's face it those are THEEE best cookies for Christmas time! Not to mention they were a family tradition growing up so I may be rather partial! Anyhow I know the neon colors aren't really fitting with the whole Christmas theme but what the heck...it's all I had! =) And the kids had fun, especially eating them!
The next few pictures are of our beautiful snow! Although it really IS beautiful....there's just entirely TOO MUCH of it for my taste! There comes a time when you wonder "hmm...where are going to put anymore of it" - I think I may be there! (how's it by you Stac?) But we've been snowblowing like good little girls and boys....Dan even made a path around the house for the kids. Obviously it's too deep for them to play in, so this way it gives them a place to play besides the driveway or the road! Of course if you ask him he'd say he made it for the meter man because he is 'not going to pay the bills based on estimates all winter long'. Okay - fair enough - but I still say he did it for the kids first! Makayla tried riding her battery powered Jeep through it but to no avail. The thing needs some snow tires I guess, which is something mommy & daddy are not willing to invest in! =)
The other pictures are from an event we went to last weekend called A Taste Of Bethlehem. It wasn't at our church but we saw the article in the local paper and it caught our eye. So we checked it out. It was a seriously bad snow storm that night but how in the world do you tell a 4 yr. old who's heart is so set on going that the roads are too bad? You don't....you forge ahead at full speed...so that's what we did! And we're glad! They did an awesome job getting things to really look like you were back in the town of Bethlehem. Not only were all the people dressed appropriately, but they had tons of food (hence the title TASTE of Bethlehem) all in keeping with the times. Among the people they had chickens, sheep, donkeys & doves much to Camerons liking I must say! He's an animal lover for sure! Makayla wasn't so sure at first but she warmed up to it towards the end. They had a story teller (I think that's one of the pictures), belly dancers, pottery makers, soap makers, etc....it was very cool! And what a great learning experience for Makayla who's a very visual learner!
Anyhow that's pretty what's happening here in a nutshell. We're coming down for Christmas/New Years so hopefully we'll get to see some of your shining faces. Love you all!
THE VELDERMAN FAMILY

"Draft" Posts are now "Real" Posts :)

Hey all. I logged in to delete the blank post that Lindy accidentally posted, and I noticed that there were about 25 posts that had been saved in "draft" mode and never published on the site. That's probably what happened if you ever had a frustrating experience with a post vanishing after you put in a bunch of hard work.

I went through and deleted the ones that were blank and published all the rest, so you'll see the long lost information. There are some cool pictures and updates among them, but they go all the way back to 2006, so you'll have to go on a little treasure hunt to find them. :) Have fun!!

Also, if you add a post, remember to click the orange "Publish Post" button,

and not the blue "Save Now" button.

Have an awesome day! Mark :)

Happy Birthday Andrea Joy!
