Hello everyone! Mark here. I was thinking about the blog this weekend and I realized that it can be more than just a way of keeping each other updated about the latest news. We can also use it to learn more about each other. So, I thought I'd give it a try by asking a question prompted by a book I am (re)reading right now.
The book is called "The Dream Giver" by Bruce Wilkinson, and it's one of the best books I've ever read (and that's saying a lot :) ). The basic premise of the book is that God gives everyone a "Big Dream" that they are meant to accomplish during their lifetime. Most of us don't pursue it though because there are so many things trying to hold us back like finances, time commitments, self image, and the big one - FEAR! Yikes!
So, here is my question: What is YOUR "Big Dream"? What are you passoinate about? What makes you come alive? What would you do with your life if nothing was holding you back???
We have such an amazing and diverse family that I can't wait to hear what your answers are. I'll post later to let you know what mine is...

My biggest dream is to have a husband who loves the Lord and is pursuing his dream for himself and our family. The fact that you asked this question is evidence that my dream has already come true! Thanks for being the man that God created you to be! (And what an amazing man that is.) Love you!

Mark, I think there are many answers to this for me. Ultimately, my biggest dream would be that when Jason and I start our family, we will raise our children to be strong, independent, and have hearts for God. The dream that is constantly at the back of my head when I think of the one thing I really would love to do, is to be able to go help others as a nurse. I would really like to be albe to do this in other countries. (I don't think that's too much to ask for!) :) -stacey
i have to be honest when i say i'm a little nervous to share this...but what a great direction to take "Gathering Point". my dreams...in a way i'm living it...teaching, and in another country, learning another language...but the deepest desire/dream of my heart is to marry the right person and continue/begin ministry with him. i hope that ministry includes working with youth and raising a family as well. And in a sense, as my relationship with God changes my dreams are tweaked little by little as i know HIM more and more. does that make sense? anyway, thanks for asking...
Mark awesome,
Thank you for asking the question, I have been thinking about questions a ton recently as I get them asked to me frequently and am trying to not only ask good questions of others and myself, but more importantly ask the 'right' questions. I spend my conversations listening and praying that when the time comes for me to speak that I have the right question to ask. So as far as my dream, I think that to live out my identity in Christ, who God fearfully, wonderfully, uniquely made me to be is my passion. I pray often that I can simply be 'in Him' as I walk through my life, whether that is being a husband, father(soon), friend, brother, son, leader, follower, coach, whatever role I find myself in. I love Tashina's thought of as we continue to pursue Christ that we really get to know ourselves better and who we were truely meant to be. Also, that love is the beginning of almost all 'big' dreams.
I am looking foward to reading more posts about you all.

Ok, my turn. I´m actually quite terrified to type it. So, my biggest dream is to raise a bilingual family with a strong Christian husband as the head of our household. I also want to work in a hospital doing ultrasounds and translating. I have no idea if this will be in the States or somewhere in Latin America, but like Tash said, God is always tweaking and improving the dreams that I have for myself. I´m kind of excited to see what He has in store for me, ok, I´m really excited about it. So... I guess we´ll find out!
I guess my biggest dream would be to make a difference in this world everyday with the people I come into contact with. I also want to marry a man who is strong and I can love and respect and we can travel down life together being servants of the Lord and raising children who follow Him. And maybe someday start a legacy like grandma and grandpa TB have started. I want to love and help people because this is the heart God has given me.

Hey Grampa,
This answers 2 questions in one...in regards to Summit...it's funny that you mention that because just yesterday we had a chance to hear from a gentleman that talked about free enterprise vs communism and the movement that he sees in this country. I left thinking that it was a mini-summit meeting.
Summit was and still is a HUGE blessing. Coming out of high school and preparing to enter college is the perfect time to go there. It opened my eyes to other forces, individuals, and groups that have agendas that they are working for, just like christians, but they are in direct opposition of everything that I believe in. It helped me become deep-rooted in my beliefs so that when opposition came...and it did and still does...that I would know beyond a shadow of a doubt what I believed in and why. My faith didn't waver in the struggles of life.
Summit also gave me the opportunity to meet AWESOME men and women of God. It helped me realize that real men and women love God and that they are fun people with a positive out-look on life. (previously I thought the vast majority of christians were stuffy and uninteresting....sorry!!) Many of the individuals I've met there I'm still in contact with and know that I could call them up and they would be there for me.
As funny as this may sound, it gave me more confidence in my parents and you and gramma. It was confirmation that what you had been teaching, speaking, believing, and praying into our lives was the truth. It gave me more respect for you and the principles that you stood on and continue to stand on. For not wavering in your belief, for standing strong, for setting a great example of Godly individuals with a STRONG marriage for us grandchildren to see and immitate.
I know that I'm just a young-buck but the older I get, the more my eyes are opened to the future and the potential that just ONE person has. Your lives are now....right now...influencing thousands of people across the WORLD for the better becuase of the examples that you are setting for us grandchildren. We are better because of our parents and you and are now touching others who will inturn touch thousands of others....and this cycle will NEVER end. You will have bettered hundreds of thousands of people because you had the COURAGE TO STAND STRONG when things got tough. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! Your blessing in heaven will be amazing. My dream is that I will leave a legacy.....financially, spiritually, and eternally....that when people meet my great great grandchildren that they will instantly know that they are men and women of principle that don't waver in adversity, that they will stand up for what is right even when it isn't popular (unfortunately that is becoming more and more often) simply becuase of their family name. That millions of people across the world will be better because I have lived. That America will be better, safer, and a more Godly nation because I was a vessel that was used by Him.
When I peruse the depths of my heart, I realize many of the dreams I had when I was younger have been fulfilled: opera singer, published writer, public speaker, mentor, influence-or, godly, healthy, remain passionate when life trys to suck it out of you...
But I realize through the years there has been an ever deepening vision growing in my mind. It's a God-dream, and one so big and so vast I cannot hope to do it, but the dream haunts me...and every time I'm told to make a wish or what is my dream...this comes to mind:
That the glory of the Lord would fill the earth even as the water of the oceans. That the light of the Presence of God would hover and cover and rain down, so that goodness and peace would come to all men, that death and destruction would be pushed back and the reality of Him would be lifted up. This dream is so deep and echoes so strongly in the fiber of my spirit. I do my part, daily, to bring the glory down... I learn as I live.
I dream of being so close to Him that I would be like Enoch, one day...no more--just shifted into LIFE because He so treasured our relationship.
My dream is global: for every tribe and every tongue. I believe in this dream I am both a sign and a witness to the nations. I wait to see the dream fulfilled. It is and it is not yet.
I dream of a great love, a great romantic love, of intimacy with a man to whom I might entrust this heart. He has not come... There is still time.
I dream of sons and daugtheres, both physical and spiritual.
I dream of a great tent extending as far as I can see to the east, west, north and south with more people to fill it than I can count.
I dream of the heart of My Father. I dream of His pleasure. I dream of His temple.
I dream a lot.
I dream of home...
