Baby!

Hey fam! Just wanted to give a quick update...The Valladares family will be growing by one around Feb. 23 next year! Yep...I'm just over 13wks pregnant! YAY...we're excited! We enjoyed being in Michigan this summer...and I enjoyed resting and not working while I wasn't feeling the best...thankfully that has passed and with perfect timing to start working again! We're all back at International School this year, Andres will be in 'nursery', I'm teaching 8th grade English again, and Carlos will be teaching middle school computers and working with our interactive whiteboards (selling, giving workshops, etc). We'll be busy! BUT, in other great news...Carlos graduated in June with his degree in Marketing...PROUD of him! We're all looking forward to having him home at night, instead of in classes :)! Paula just started working here at International School as well, and now lives about 2 blocks away...another blessing! :). Life is good :)! I'll post pictures of graduation and vacation another time! Love you all...

Happy Birthday Aunt Sally!

Guatemala 2010

Dear Family!
Once again, I have been given a great opportunity to travel to Guatemala on a mission trip! I will be going to Chichicastenango, Guatemala (Chee-chee-cahst-in-ango) on June 11-19, 2010. The team that I am traveling with is from Resurrection Life Church in Grand Haven, MI. We are going through Pray America, an organization based in Chi-chi.

Pray America is doing great things in Guatemala. After Hurricane Hugo, Ron Morin- PA’s founder- had the opportunity to help the local Mayan Indian population. Through this, the organization-partnered with local pastors- has started numerous feeding, housing, and Bible education programs. While there, our group will be assisting with the feeding programs for the children and widows, building homes for these widowed families, help teach Bible classes, and minister to those we come in contact with. Just like it says in Mark 16:15, “Go into the entire world and preach the gospel…” That is what our group is doing. We are reaching out to the lost and hurting people of Guatemala and sharing with them the love of God.

Guatemala has suffered from civil war until the early 1990’s; the civil war killed thousands of men of fighting age. Because of this, Guatemala has a large widowed population and single parent families where the mother has to provide for the children. We will be helping those people, as well as those in the outreach programs.

I am asking you to support such a worthy cause! First and foremost, I ask that you pray for this mission trip. Through prayer, all needs will be covered! I am also asking for your financial support. The trip costs approximately $1,500 and I hope that you will feel led to help cover those costs! The deadline for the final payment is May 14, 2010. If for some unforeseen reason I cannot go, all funds raised will go to the rest of the mission team.

Of course, all contributions are tax deductible. If writing checks please make them out to RLC or Res Life and put ‘Guatemala’ in the memo line. Please do not write the checks out to me, if you wish the gifts to be tax deductible. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude for helping make this trip possible! It is such a blessing to have friends and family that support missions!

This mission trip is an awesome opportunity for me and our team. Not only will we grow closer as a team, but we will grow closer to our Creator. To learn more about Pray America visit their website at: www.prayamerica.org

I am very excited to go on this trip and it will be such a blessing to me to be a blessing to others! Not only that, but it gives me an opportunity to practice the Spanish I have learned. : ) Once again, THANK YOU so much for your continued support and prayers!!

In Christ,

--Luke

Its Almost Spring!

Hello Family..wow..there is not much on this blog lately..like us everyone has probably been hidden away for the winter...but alas..spring is here! Just wanted to post a recent picture of the kiddys and say hello to you all. Life is good here. Nolan is growing like a mad man..a silly little clone of his daddy..I am sure one of these days I will find him on the roof with a towel tied around his neck as a cape, ready to jump. Isabelle is the best big sister ever and it is such a joy to be her mommy..she is always making me laugh with her silly comments and actions. Adam has been working out of town the last few weeks so we anticipate his arrival home on Thurs. nites and enjoy the long weekends. He is going to Midland this Sat. to take his test to become a Certified Michigan Arborist...so if you need something to pray about theres a reason...I know that will be a huge thing off his mind. Me, well, just enjoying my family and being outside and daydreaming about the garden/flowers I get to plant before long. Hope you are all well. I love to hear whats up with folks so I am putting out a challange for you all to write a little diddy.
